IBFD and Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) Collaborate on Capacity Building in Taxation
IBFD and the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen capacity building.
In a special ceremony, Jan Maarten Slagter, CEO and Board Member, IBFD, and Alphayo Kidata, Commissioner General, TRA, signed the MoU signifying their commitment to collaborate on various initiatives, including training, research, consultancy and other educational programmes.
Implementing and monitoring the progress concerning the memorandum shall be coordinated by the Institute of Tax Administration (ITA) on behalf of the TRA and the Capacity Building and Tailored Services Department on behalf of IBFD.
Jan Maarten Slagter expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We will unite forces to drive capacity building initiatives with the TRA related to tax and tax administration matters of the two collaborating establishments.”
This partnership will foster mutual growth and development, ultimately contributing to the improvement of tax systems and administration in Tanzania, as well as promoting a stronger understanding of tax matters among professionals and stakeholders in the field.
On his part, Alphayo Kidata said, “Securing a formal partnership with a world-class institution, IBFD, in a capacity building mission is a very important step in the development of tax administration in the United Republic of Tanzania.”
Capacity building is part and parcel of the TRA’s daily dealings in order to deploy a highly competent workforce at all levels with sound knowledge, relevant skills and the right attitude.
