Capacity Building Training with Benin Tax Administration

IBFD's capacity building  department successfully conducted the training for the Benin tax administration from 6 June to 16 June. This training is a follow-up of the BEPS Assessment Tool (B.A.T.) project carried out in Benin last year.  We welcomed the two delegations from the Direction Générale des Impôts (DGI) – Benin to our office in Amsterdam and we were also joined by two representatives of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), which is also funding the project.

The trainings focused on Enhancing Tax Compliance, Tax Audit and Tax Evasion, and Integrity for one of the delegations and on International Taxation and Tax Treaties Negotiations for the other. Our subject matter experts were the instructors for this training, namely: Arie van Eijsden, Ton Konings, Mamadou Bah, Vanessa Arruda Ferreira, Victor van Kommer, Aziz Son, Gabriela Rodríguez, Jan de Goede and Sabrine Marsit. This was followed by a presentation about our excellent Library resources by Willemijn Gianotten.

These trainings were successfully delivered in French and English, demonstrating IBFD's capacity to serve French-speaking countries.

During the last day of the training, both delegations also had the opportunity to visit the Dutch Ministry of Finance in The Hague for an exchange on the Dutch tax treaty policy for developing countries. The Ministry presented the latest measures adopted and a fruitful exchange took place around these topics, bringing valuable insights for the Benin delegation.
