This article explores the tax structure and harmonization strategies of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). After the introductory remarks, the article summarizes the major elements of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy, examines the concept of harmonization, and discusses the tax harmonization efforts in CARICOM and the European Union, including the lessons that can be learned from the European Union. The article also considers the arguments for and against tax harmonization in the context of CARICOM, describes the tax structures in CARICOM, and presents a policy framework and suggested strategies for harmonization.
