Fostering the development of renewable energy through green taxes and other instruments

This article evaluates the challenges of using green taxes to develop renewable energy and examines some of the ways of dealing with these challenges. The article also examines the interaction of taxes and other regulatory measures with a view to assessing their complementary roles in developing alternative sources of energy. The primary focus of the analysis is on Australia's experience, but lessons will be drawn from the experience of other OECD countries for comparative purposes.
