Following closely upon the floatation of shares in Myer Holdings Limited (a large retail group in Australia) by the foreign private equity firm, TPG Myers, the Australian Taxation Office issued two draft taxation determinations to clarify its position regarding taxation of private equity enterprises in Australia. The determinations have caused much consternation among foreign equity investors.
