Part of a comparative survey on tax treatment and consequences of debt restructuring and workouts. As a result of the economic and financial crisis that affected Argentina in 2001 and 2002, significant debt restructuring processes were carried out over the last three years, at both governmental and private levels. This article first provides a brief description of the situation and then describes the context in which such debt restructurings were made, it then analyses the applicable tax treatment.
